« Our dream is not to make the best olive oil in the world,
but to make the world a better place with our olive oil »

Our land Joy is the fruit of Cultivation

We are a family business, taking inspiration from the example of our parents who bequeathed this land to us. Our father, Pedro Vecino Riera, restored the olive groves that once existed at the Molino de Santa Ana (Saint Anne’s Mill) which we inherited from our maternal grandparents.

Throughout our maternal family tree, there are German, Italian and French surnames in abundance due to the colonisation that occurred in this region under the reign of Charles III, an extraordinary time in our history. We know that at that time, the settlers cultivated orchards, vines and olive trees.

Our maternal great-great-grandfather loved olive trees and olive oil so much that he gave up important, valuable farmsteads in exchange for olive groves and oil mills. To him we owe our love for the olive tree.

The lands of La Cultivada are located in the southwestern countryside of the province of Cordoba in Andalusia, within the famous triangle that produced the most prestigious olive oils of the Roman Empire.

Our beloved Molino de Santa Ana dates back to the 1800s and was known as a “Modern Mill” due to the advanced technology that was used at that time in the past. From the Estate, there is a beautiful view of the Castle of Almodovar which was connected to the Caliphate of Cordoba, a period in which the cultivation of olive groves was widely celebrated, and the olive itself was even declared to be a cultural asset.

Love does not dominate; it Cultivates

La Cultivada was born from a dream that wanted to become a reality.

In 2007 I returned to the south, closer to the land cultivated by my ancestors, with the intention of creating a name for our family-produced olive oil.

An oil whose excellence would echo the values of a civilising agriculture and its ancestral pact with nature. I devoted myself to the olive tree, turned into an entrepreneur and became an ambassador for a juice that affirms the identity of the Mediterranean, bears witness to time-honoured heritage and promotes a healthy lifestyle.

La Cultivada is a taste revealing the spirit of a region. It invites us to be conscious and creative both in the kitchen and, while we eat, nourishing the senses, the soul and the heart. La Cultivada is aesthetics and ethics; health and gratitude; it is listening to nature and a mythological experience.

cultivated manifesto

When we understand that we belong to the land, and not that the land belongs to us.

When we understand that to cultivate is to take care of the land that feeds us.

When we understand that being cultured today means embracing the learning of new ways of life.

When we understand that our true destiny lies in being custodians and not predators.

When we understand that food comes from the earth and there is no other planet to run to.

When we understand that we are interdependent and that there is no us without others.

When we understand that success over another is a zero-sum game and that we are more than just winners or losers.

When we understand that our health is also cultivated with good food.

When we understand that healthy food is an essential human right, born from living, sustainable agriculture…

Then, and only then, will we be the change and take the Cultivated future into our own hands.
