I met<\/span> Marta<\/span><\/a> in Paris when I was eighteen\u2026 Paris was Paris, and I was a young woman just beginning to discover the world, wandering through the city\u2019s legendary <\/span>caf\u00e9s<\/b>, devouring<\/span> existentialist books<\/b>, drawing inspiration from the <\/span>romanticism of its bridges<\/b>,\u00a0 losing myself in the <\/span>streets of Saint-Germain-des-Pr\u00e9s<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes indeed, Marta and I met during our own <\/span>belle \u00e9poque<\/b>: a time that was opening up a new world, a new life for us. Everything lay ahead of us\u2026 discovering, learning, creating. A time when<\/span> the future didn\u2019t trouble us at all.<\/b><\/p>\n

Not long ago, Marta told me her <\/span>mother <\/b>had passed away, and she showed me some photos from<\/span> her <\/i><\/b>belle \u00e9poque<\/b>. It was pure <\/span>glamour<\/b>! Beyond her incredible <\/span>sense of style<\/b>, you could recognise her <\/span>sensitivity<\/b>, and combined with the 1950s aesthetic, she looked like a true <\/span>Hollywood star<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

How strange it feels<\/b> when we see our mothers once we\u2019ve surpassed the age they were in those old photographs. The older we get, the more we become their <\/span>contemporaries <\/b>and we are better able to understand them beyond their role as <\/span>mothers<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And above all, oh what a <\/span>void <\/b>they leave when they\u2019re gone\u2026 though somehow, <\/span>a mother never truly leaves<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marta was always <\/span>a little introverted and a bit absent-minded<\/b>. Today, she\u2019s a <\/span>renowned painter<\/b> and an a<\/span>dvanced student of classical guitar<\/b>. She paints <\/span>still lifes from life<\/b>, recreating and expressing her world through <\/span>lines and shapes.<\/b><\/p>\n

She\u2019s inspired by <\/span>Mondrian, Frida Kahlo, and Matisse<\/b> \u2014 and she adores <\/span>La Cultivada EVOO<\/b>, which has become part of her everyday life. That\u2019s why she also portrays <\/span>our little cans<\/b>, giving them new life within the <\/span>intimate universe of her atelier.<\/b><\/p>\n

Marta\u2019s work is so <\/span>joyful<\/b>, inviting us to contemplate the objects that surround us with <\/span>fresh eyes<\/b>. She currently collaborates with the <\/span>Galer\u00eda Herraiz <\/b>in Madrid.<\/span><\/p>\n
