It was Pedro Aguilera who <\/span>filmed our very first \u201cfilm.\u201d<\/b>
\n<\/b>This\u00a0 was back in the days of our <\/span>little golden cans, <\/b>and Pedro came to the Santa Ana Estate one weekend, camera in hand\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

At that time, everything was just starting off: <\/span>La Cultivada was taking its first baby steps.<\/b>
\n<\/b>We had such a good time filming, but what stayed with me most were the <\/span>brilliant stories of cinema and youth<\/b> my father told us while driving us around \u2014 he was our\u00a0 <\/span>elite chauffeur<\/b>, and entertained us not only with his jokes but also with his <\/span>country wisdom.<\/b><\/p>\n

He studied agricultural engineering in Madrid, and had some fun on the side as a <\/span>film extra. <\/b>If memory serves me well, he actually\u00a0 appeared in <\/span>Doctor Zhivago<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>The Fall of the Roman Empire<\/span><\/i>\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

But that wasn\u2019t his only link to cinema. He had many artist friends, one of whom was the filmmaker and humorist <\/span>Manolo Summers.<\/b>
\n<\/b>Together they lived some <\/span>surreal adventures<\/b> in the Madrid of the \u201960s, cruising around in the <\/span>hearse<\/b> that Manolo hired for his films, the height of irreverence that youth can conjure up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pedro Aguilera<\/span><\/a> has since forged ahead, <\/span>unstoppable in his remarkable career<\/b> in independent cinema, garnering success after success. He is now about to premiere his <\/span>fifth feature film,<\/b> a remake of Saura\u2019s <\/span>La Caza<\/span><\/i> called <\/span>D\u00edas de Caza,<\/span><\/i> with <\/span>Rossy de Palma<\/b> in the cast.<\/span><\/p>\n

Going back to our humble \u201cfilm,\u201d the <\/span>voiceover was undertaken by Mar\u00eda Ballesteros,<\/b> actress and super-fan of La Cultivada, who deliciously recited our <\/span>Poem for Breakfast.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0I write about the story behind that very poem not so long ago; a poem written to describe and define the qualities of a <\/span>fine extra virgin olive oil.<\/b><\/p>\n
