Today I want to tell you about the<\/span> Fundaci\u00f3n El P\u00e1jaro Azul <\/b>\u2013 The Bluebird Foundation in English – and the first<\/span> charity olive oil tasting<\/b> we held together a couple of months ago on 13th March.<\/span><\/p>\n

El <\/span>P\u00e1jaro Azul <\/b><\/a>is an Asturian NGO, founded in Oviedo in 2009 to create<\/span> opportunities for those who have none<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The foundation\u2019s name symbolizes the<\/span> search for happiness<\/b>, something that, in their words<\/span>, \u201ccan only be found by<\/span><\/i> recognising who we are<\/i><\/b>.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Their logo, designed by artist Vicente Pastor, features a bluebird<\/span> lifting stars from the earth into the sky:<\/b> a metaphor for the<\/span> light that lives within each of us,<\/b> and our desire and right to let it shine.<\/span><\/p>\n

At La Cultivada, our logo is also a bird created by an artist. <\/span>A bird<\/b> that<\/span> can see in the night<\/b>, whose vision reaches <\/span>far beyond others<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It symbolises<\/span> wisdom,<\/b>the cultivation of the human spirit and good agricultural practice. Owls are in fact a common sight in organic olive groves. <\/span><\/p>\n

Our two birds brought us together in Seville, on a never-ending journey all the way to Sub-Saharan Africa, where the women leading the Fundaci\u00f3n are running childhood education programs, training women in agricultural cooperatives and much, much more.<\/span><\/p>\n

With such a meaningful collaboration behind it, it\u2019s no surprise that our EVOO tasting, led by <\/span>Sharon Page<\/b><\/a>, was a great success.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> 25 participants<\/b> were eager to discover more, leaping into the world of Olive Oil and busting some of the most common myths along the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

They came away happy having learned to identify<\/span> the common defects<\/b> of a Virgin Oil <\/span>and how to appreciate<\/b> the qualities of a veritable olive juice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the attendees at this Cultivated event <\/span>was Inmaculada Gonz\u00e1lez-Carbajal Garc\u00eda<\/b>, the founder and president of El P\u00e1jaro Azul, who had a wonderful time capturing it all in photos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Given the growing interest in educating palates and with<\/span> 100% of the event\u2019s proceeds going directly to the foundation\u2019s projects<\/b>, this tasting is sure to be the first of many.<\/span><\/p>\n
