It was a summer friendship that helped bring shape to La Cultivada.<\/p>\n

I met my friend Laura when we were fourteen<\/strong>, at the place where we both used to spend our summer holidays.<\/p>\n

We were introduced by a neighbour; my mother had encouraged me to go out with her instead of staying cooped up in my room, reading for hours as was my wont.<\/p>\n

You understand\u2026 that strange, in-between phase of adolescence when everything feels so strange.<\/p>\n

Laura was a real live wire<\/em> \u2013 restless, energetic, full of life and fun.<\/p>\n

I was rather shy back then\u2026 but we hit it off right away and quickly became inseparable<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Over the years, Laura became an incredible art director. And together, in her studio in Seville\u2019s Arenal quarter, we began working on what would become the very first labels for La Cultivada, and our very first screen-printed tin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We chose my favorite colour: that soft blue-green-aqua shade<\/strong> that would later become so trendy.<\/p>\n

For aesthetic inspiration (a moodboard<\/em> in today\u2019s jargon), we turned to the old apothecary<\/strong> jars we remembered from childhood, botanical prints<\/strong> and antique engravings<\/strong> of landscapes and animals which my mother adored…<\/p>\n

We had already had a name and beautiful pen-and-ink illustrations drawn by Pedro.<\/p>\n

And then there was the can! Our first container wasn\u2019t a bottle but a tin can \u2013 a bold<\/strong> and unconventional choice for the time! <\/p>\n

Nothing similar to that shade<\/strong>, those pastel colours, existed in the world of olive oil, let alone on a can\u2026<\/p>\n

In fact, when we did our first survey, people weren\u2019t exactly enthusiastic. But we didn\u2019t let that stop us \u2013 we kept going, took a leap of faith, and went full Thelma & Louise.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s how our first screen-printed can was born<\/strong>, the one that became the inspiration for all that followed\u2026<\/p>\n
