Before La Cultivada existed, there was in fact another brand:<\/span> Cortijo Arbequel.<\/b>. It was created <\/span>by my father<\/b>.<\/span> <\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t have the patience to take it far, but he did have the patience to plant trees, just like the protagonist in the story by Jean Giono. <\/span><\/p>\n

And although he may not have seemed like one to the outside world,<\/span> my father was an artist too<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In La Cultivada\u2019s early days, he used to say that I didn\u2019t fit in, that this whole olive oil thing<\/span> wasn\u2019t for me, that<\/b> I was wasting my potential.<\/span><\/p>\n

When it came to designing the brand\u2019s image, I knew it had to be an artist who truly made it their own. <\/span><\/p>\n

I didn’t want the marketing perfection<\/b> or to follow a pre-established model. Pedro Mora encouraged me to create my own brand of oil. <\/span><\/p>\n

It wouldn\u2019t have polished marketing perfection,<\/span> but it would carry the artist\u2019s imperfect touch<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I love imperfection, everything gets much more interesting and beautiful <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

My father\u2019s name was also Pedro.<\/b>. He didn’t understand what had bitten me to dedicate myself to this… But from his example I learned two values that are essential to this project: the <\/span>perseverance<\/b> and the<\/span> pursuit of <\/b>excellence<\/b>.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Building a brand from scratch, taking it out into the world and sticking with it is a tough journey. But when it comes from the heart, onwards you go. I wanted to create something with soul, just like he created forests of olive trees. <\/span><\/p>\n

So in the end, <\/span>we were both artists<\/b> \u2013 each doing it, in the words of Sinatra, <\/span>my way<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n

Now,<\/span>I realise how much he taught me without even trying, and how his roots run deeper in me than I ever imagined. <\/span><\/p>\n

Being a father is that too: cultivating, waiting, trusting<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
